About Your Dentist

David Gates, DDS

"What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but trifles, to be sure; but scattered along life’s pathway, the good they do is inconceivable." - Joseph Addison

We are a full-service family dental practice, not a dental clinic. We've been treating parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren, for a quarter of a century. I appreciate my patients' loyalty and I find great satisfaction in consistently providing dental care that exceeds their expectations.

Education and Advanced Training

I've worked hard to gain the skills necessary to produce the highest level of beauty and comfort available in dentistry. I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, in 1986 and received training in occlusion from the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies in St. Petersburg, FL, between 1993 and 1999. Starting in 1988, I completed advanced training in veneers and cosmetics, and in 1998 began the exciting journey into dental implants, which have become a staple of our practice.

Continuing education allows me to progress in my knowledge and expertise, and it increases my ability to serve my patients with a high level of care. I have been actively involved in the local chapter of the Seattle Study Club and in continuing education in orthodontics and implants for many years.

In the Dental Community

In 2001, I attended a dental course in Los Angeles that changed my career. A new technique, Invisalign Invisible Braces, had just become available. I'd worn braces for two years as a teenager and was wearing them again for the second time (they aren't lying when they say you need to wear your retainer for life!). As it turns out, I was the first general dentist in the State of Nevada to become certified to deliver these new and amazing clear aligners.

Just two years later, with more cases under my belt than almost anyone else in the Southwest, I was asked to teach a section of the certification course for new dentists. Next, came an invitation to teach a bigger section, and before long, I was lecturing to dentists around the country, teaching both the beginning course, then study clubs, then the advanced course. Within a year, I was lecturing all across America, Canada, and Central America. Invisalign has changed the lives of many of my patients and mine as well!

Outside of the Office

I am a native of Beloit, Wisconsin, and I have spent the last twenty-five years in Henderson, NV. My wife of 28 years, Carole, and I have five children and two grandchildren of whom we are extremely proud. When I'm not in the office creating beautiful smiles, you can find me bicycling, traveling, participating in spiritual and religious activities, and spending quality time with my family.

I have been blessed beyond words and feel that it is my responsibility to give back to those less fortunate. For the last several years, I've been involved with a 100-doctor dental mission to Central America, traveling to San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa to treat the dental needs of many Hondurans. This has been a very rewarding experience and reminds me to give thanks for all that I have.

My Mission

I love dentistry and I take great pride in providing the highest quality of dentistry in a gentle and caring manner.  I particularly enjoy creating beautiful smiles by straightening teeth. I strive to work collaboratively with each patient because individualized treatment and hygienic education lead to healthy, straight teeth, which produce the most dazzling smiles.

Education and Advanced Training

I earned my Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine. I am also a certified Invisalign provider and I find great satisfaction in straightening and improving smiles by utilizing a variety of dental techniques.

Outside of the Office

I am a native of Las Vegas and I truly relish the daily opportunity to serve my fellow Nevadans.  I have been married to my lovely wife Mandy for over nine years and we have one son who was born on my very last day of dental school. I couldn't have asked for a better graduation gift!
