Finding a new dental office can often be a challenge. You’ve come to the right place!  Fortunately, The Center for Cosmetic and Family Dentistry in Henderson, Nevada can satisfy all your dental needs. Our practice was originally opened in 1961, so we’ve had a lot of experience treating family members of all ages. The following will provide you with an overview of what to expect from your first visit to our dental office.

Before Your Visit

Make an Appointment

To schedule an appointment, call our dental office at 702-616-0777 and our team will assist you in finding a day and time that is available and convenient for you.  We’re open 5 days a week with extended hours on Tuesday and Wednesday until 8:00 pm.

Before the dental exam is performed, you’ll want to talk to Dr. Gates or Dr. Parker about your health history. This will give them insight into your current state of oral health and the underlying causes of present issues, if any.

It's important that our new patients understand that the more information we have about your dental history, the better. You shouldn't worry about being judged or embarrassed, so you can feel comfortable discussing all the pertinent details of your oral health habits, issues, and history. Our only concern is improving your oral health. Therefore, it is crucial that you provide a complete, accurate medical and dental history on your first visit.

During Your Visit

1. Comprehensive Exam and X-rays

All first-time patients undergo a comprehensive exam that includes an oral cancer screening and a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, and bite profile.  We also take a series of x-rays so that Dr. Gates and Dr. Parker will be able to accurately evaluate your dental situation.  

2. Gentle Professional Cleaning

Dr. Gates or Dr. Parker may recommend you get a professional teeth cleaning. During this cleaning session, Gita or Afton will evaluate the gums and look for signs of periodontal disease or inflammation.  If the health of your gums is good, then they will give your teeth a thorough cleaning and polish.  You’ll leave feeling clean and fresh.  If we find signs of periodontal disease deep below the gums, you will be scheduled for a later appointment so we can remove the tartar, toxins, and accumulated bacteria. Using a laser to help heal the gums may also prove very beneficial.

3. Treatment Plan and Recommendations

Once the comprehensive exam and x-rays are complete, Dr. Gates or Dr. Parker will discuss solutions to your dental problems and write up very specific recommendations for your customized dental treatment.  We will address what is essential and what is optional, treatment cost, your insurance coverage, the number of appointments necessary and what to expect at each. Your treatment plan is your custom guide for returning to full health.   Through this specially designed, comprehensive treatment plan, we can resolve the problems that are adversely affecting your oral health.

4. Final Questions

This is the best time to ask Dr. Gates or Dr. Parker any questions or discuss any concerns you may have. We want you to leave feeling completely confident that we’re delivering the very highest level of care.  We want you to feel so comfortable that you’ll want to refer others to our office.  We stay in business by taking care of good patients like you.  

5. Scheduling Your Next Visit

After your first visit, we’ll schedule your next appointment and handle the finances. We’ll invite you to give us a review and we hope you’ll want to refer your friends and family.
